Plenty of Everton fans appear to have had enough of their goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The England number one has not been in great form in recent weeks and that continued at the weekend. The stopper should have saved Pascal Gross’ free-kick in the 3-2 loss to Brighton.
It is the latest in a series of unconvincing displays from Everton’s goalkeeper, who has been inconsistent for the past 18 months.
The idea is that Pickford needs a wake-up call. Dropping him will hopefully alert him to the fact he is not untouchable between the sticks.

But here’s the unfortunate truth, he is untouchable.
Everton snapped up Jonas Lossl in the summer from Huddersfield Town after his contract expired at the West Yorkshire side.
The Danish international is a steady pair of hands in the event of a sending off or in-game injury. But as a starter for Everton? Anyone who saw his tumultuous season at Huddersfield last term will make you aware of the fact that Pickford is the superior keeper.

Right now, the best thing Everton can do is stick by Pickford and hope he can find consistency again soon.
If not, then it is a situation to address in the summer with a potential upgrade in the transfer market. Bringing in Lossl is not currently the answer.
