There have been plenty of players who have slipped through the radar for Everton over the years.
Whether that be someone picking another club or rejecting the chance to sign the next big thing, it’s happened to every club.
Erling Haaland is one of those and could’ve joined the Toffees for just £60k, however, they turned down the chance and since then, the Norway international has gone on to become one of the best players in the world.
It’s not the only Norwegian Everton have missed out on and you don’t have to go back far to spot another one they may regret not picking up.

Everton could’ve signed Antonio Nusa for £3.3m

Haaland’s international teammate Antonio Nusa is another star who was on Everton’s shortlist for some time.
Playing for Belgian outfit Club Brugge back in 2023, the local media claimed that the club was interested in bringing Nusa to the Premier League.
Talks began as they discussed bringing the then-18-year-old to Goodison Park but Sean Dyche and co were unable to convince him to join.
It then looked as if he was going to join Brentford in January 2024 for £25m – only for that deal to break down too.
Eventually, Nusa decided against England altogether and moved to the Bundesliga to join RB Leipzig for a fee similar to what Brentford had agreed.
Antonio Nusa one of the most valuable young stars in the world
It’s hard to predict how Nusa’s career would’ve gone if a move to Everton had sufficed, but safe to say that by looking at his asking price, they may have missed a trick.
Data compiled by Switzerland-based analysis CIES Football Observatory placed Nusa among the 100 most valuable players in the world under the age of 21.
Nusa is valued at £30.5m by them, meaning he is now worth 10 times more than what he was just over a year ago.
What could’ve been, eh?
