Paul Brown has claimed that Sean Dyche doesn’t trust Nathan Patterson.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist admitted that it is ‘clear’ that the Everton boss doesn’t trust Patterson defensively.
The full-back had only made nine appearances for Rangers in the season prior to his move to Goodison Park, but Everton were prepared to cough up an initial £12 million to bring Patterson to the club on a five-and-a-half-year deal in January 2022.
However, Rafa Benitez was sacked only two weeks later and Patterson failed to make a single senior appearance for the Toffees for the remainder of the campaign.

Patterson went onto make 19 appearances in the Premier League last season and has a further five under his belt this term, starting in place of the injured Seamus Coleman.
The 21-year-old was dropped for the clash with Arsenal at the weekend though, with Brown claiming Dyche isn’t convinced by the defender.
“I’m really quite worried about Everton’s options at full-back,” Brown said. “I don’t think any of them look ideal.
“Sean Dyche doesn’t trust Patterson defensively, that’s clear. I didn’t think Ashley Young or Mykolenko did at all well against Arsenal, I thought they were both exposed.
“I’m not really sure what options there are for him. He’s going to have to try and get game out of them and it’s going to take some coaching and maybe a tinker to the way the team is set up and plays, but I think the full-back area is a major area of concern for Everton.”
Everton’s full-back options are a concern this season
Nathan Patterson has years ahead of him to improve and could definitely become a capable replacement for Coleman, however Everton certainly can’t rely on him right now.

Ashley Young took his place against the Gunners, but he is far from the player he once was as he approaches his 39th birthday next year. Meanwhile, Vitaliy Mykolenko is another defender that is taking his time to adapt to the Premier League and isn’t exactly a better alternative to Patterson.
The Toffees could really do with Coleman returning to the side, with the captain already back on the grass and expected to make his comeback towards the end of October.
