Everton’s 2024 has been tumultuous, uncomfortable, but ultimately, one of immense progress.
The former two were traits largely associated with Frank Lampard’s reign, which was just short just under one month into 2023. The latter asset has been triumphantly brought in by Sean Dyche, who finally seems to be dragging this tired, historic outfit in the right direction.
However, as he approaches 12 months in charge, his is still an outfit that he has not had plenty of resources to flex his managerial muscles quite yet.
After all, he scrambled at the back end of January to no avail, and then had to count pennies with Kevin Thelwell throughout the summer.

In an effort to ensure they are in a much healthier financial position next year, to avoid another FFP hammer blow the likes of which saw them hit with a ten-point deduction, there are a number of measures that Everton must take to ease their ailments.
Three stars stand out as the kind who could make way to free up some funds, without hurting the starting side too much.
Who should Everton sell in 2024?
Dyche is pretty set in his ways when it comes to both his system and his starting XI, neither of which tends to change unless something catastrophic occurs.
Therefore, it is supremely hard for outsiders to break into that core 11, with Ben Godfrey one such example of a player who has fallen so far down the pecking order.
Once one of Carlo Ancelotti’s most revered assets, the 25-year-old has since his chances dwindle over the years, suffering more than most through COVID-19, the two terrible managerial tenures that followed the Italian, and later from injuries.
With a few Premier League teams reportedly sniffing around the defender, there is actually an opportunity to fetch a decent chunk of money from his sale, given he was initially signed for £20m.

Another who could be set to leave is actually slightly ahead of Godfrey in Dyche’s thinking, but still far from the level needed to take Everton to where they want to go.
Michael Keane is a favourite of the former Burnley man, given they have shared plenty of years together in both Lancashire and Merseyside.
However, since his £30m move to the latter, things have been far from smooth sailing for the sluggish stopper.
Having endured a career riddled with high-profile errors, with pundit Trevor Sinclair having branded him a ‘liability’ live on talkSPORT [8:25, April 4th 2022] not that long ago.
Finally, with Andre Gomes’ contract set to expire in the summer, January marks the final opportunity to recoup some kind of fee for Andre Gomes.

Becoming a fan favourite for his silky play style and good looks, the smooth operator thrived during his initial loan spell from Barcelona.
However, injuries also took their toll on the Portuguese ace, who has floundered in recent years while trying to get back to the level needed.
It seems a futile task, and one which Dyche must give up in 2024 to hopefully gain some kind of fiscal aid.
