Everton are a side that has had little fortune in recent years when it comes to cup competitions, hence their decade-long aversion to silverware.

Not since 1995 has a captain wearing the royal blue of Merseyside lifted a major trophy over his head, and yet this unwavering fanbase has remained as loyal as ever.

Even during recent years, where relegation battles have become the unfortunate norm, the Toffees are backed home and away in great numbers and fine voice.

So, with the upcoming FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace just around the corner, Sean Dyche will hope to go a few steps further than they did in the EFL Cup and solidify his hero status at Goodison Park.

However, he will also want to use it as an opportunity to bleed new talent, handing them a fine platform for future success in the Premier League.

With that in mind, here are three Everton youngsters who could make their debuts in the FA Cup…

Who is Mackenzie Hunt?

Having made the bench on a number of occasions under Dyche’s leadership now, Mackenzie Hunt is seemingly the most likely to earn his big break against the Eagles.

Once an attacking midfielder, the 22-year-old ace has featured in all manner of positions for the U21s, most recently settling at left-back.

Given the lack of first-team depth in that role, the creative and technically proficient ace might be able to stamp his claim as backup to Vitaliy Mykolenko, with some additional firepower to perhaps tempt the senior boss in the future.

How good is Jenson Metcalfe?

Branded a ‘talented central midfielder’ by journalist Paddy Boyland, Jenson Metcalfe has had a tumultuous past few years on Merseyside.

Having been slowly rising through the ranks at Everton, a long-term injury provided an unfortunate setback just as he was making waves.

However, now back in action and having made the bench against Burnley, the 19-year-old could be another ready for his first-team birth; one which Abdoulaye Doucoure thinks he is owed.

Could Kyle John make his Everton debut in the FA Cup?

The final youngster who could make his first-ever Everton start is a name likely more familiar with Evertonians, given how long Kyle John has been around at the club.

Having joined the Toffees when he was six, the combative and energetic defender is described on Everton’s official website as: ‘An accomplished right-back who combines diligent defending with the ability to make important attacking contributions’.

With such a well-rounded skillset, and the dynamism to boot, there is every chance that the 22-year-old stalwart could now prove himself the heir to Seamus Coleman by cementing his name amongst the senior squad.
