Everton are one of the many clubs who have been left offended by recent comments made by a rival club owner.
Jim Ratcliffe’s opinion on the Premier League power struggle has caused mass outrage from the bulk of the division and their fanbases, painting the picture of woe for his mighty Manchester United whilst other clubs fight for their lives.
It’s ironic how out of touch he is with footballing reality, but very little else can be expected.
The Esk reacts to Jim Ratcliffe’s Premier League comments
Now speaking on his blog, Paul Quinn, better known as The Esk on X, sought to offer his verdict on Ratcliffe’s recent comments.
Having stirred up the rest of the Premier League with his arrogance and entitlement, the finance guru and writer actually revealed his admiration for the businessman, outlining how Dan Friedkin could copy his lead.
He wrote: ‘This must be the message from all clubs, but particularly from our new owners entering the challenge to make Everton once more one of the biggest, if not ultimately the biggest, of English league clubs.

‘I actually admire Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s naked ambition. He’s setting his stall out to dominate. Nothing wrong in that, as long as the strategy is correct and doesn’t destroy the actual source of their current fortuitous position. At Everton, we have, from a much lower base, and once stability is provided, to demonstrate the same desire to succeed – the same desire to dominate, albeit not at the expense of everyone else. Not at the expense of the League which provides the platform for much greater success.
‘We cannot rely upon the Premier League itself, we can only be responsible for our own future success by what we achieve ourselves. However, we can influence and lead other Premier League clubs to challenge the Ratcliffe-style dominant thinking – not only for the benefit of ourselves but for the greater good of all participants in the Premier League.’
When will Dan Friedkin complete his Everton takeover?
To put an exact date on the completion of this ongoing takeover marks a near-impossible job given how unpredictable the Premier League has been in recent years, but we can assume that it will be sooner rather than later.
After all, there are already quite clear signs that a successful outcome is imminent.
The biggest giveaway has been the Toffees’ surprising spending this summer, with Kevin Thelwell surely having been given some kind of green light to bring players in.

And whilst this has been ongoing, Friedkin has even visited Merseyside in preparation, enjoying a tour around the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, their soon-to-be new home.
Four to six weeks is the relevant timeframe for a simple process, but things seldom are with Everton. Having reached an exclusivity agreement in mid-June, perhaps mid to late July is a realistic date to expect an outcome.
