Everton are back at Goodison Park again tonight, seeking to avenge their frustrating loss against Manchester United by showing some cutting-edge against Newcastle United.
The clash has far more at stake than mere European pushes and relegation scraps though, given the underlying narratives bubbling beneath the surface.
Whilst the faux rivalry that has emerged in recent years is one such example, the spotlight will begrudgingly be on Anthony Gordon too, who has emerged as one of Eddie Howe’s most important players this season.
Having joined the Magpies in a £45m move last January, the Liverpool-born winger left his boyhood club in the lurch, much to the frustration of the fanbase.

What makes things worse is that the 22-year-old already has six goals and five assists in the Premier League alone this season, so will actually mark a significant threat for Sean Dyche to deal with should he be fit.
Fortunately, he may well have the perfect counter to quell the danger he poses, should Seamus Coleman be deemed fit enough to start.
How good is Seamus Coleman?
Despite the 35-year-old having yet to play a single senior minute this campaign, he remains one of Everton‘s most dependable assets.
After all, the experience he has accumulated across 409 first-team appearances is invaluable, with the Ireland international knowing exactly what the fanbase expects of him.
Although his physical assets have somewhat dwindled with age, his intelligence and positional awareness have allowed him to pocket some of the Premier League’s finest wingers in recent years.
Silencing Wilfried Gnonto whilst scoring the winner just last season marked a recent highlight for the man branded a ‘warrior‘ by Frank Lampard, with other examples seeing the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Sadio Mane and Gabriel Martinelli all pocketed.

So, Gordon should prove no problem for the veteran defender, who last term also averaged 1.5 tackles and two clearances per game in the league, via Sofascore.
At the very least, welcoming back the £55k-per-week stalwart will offer a huge boost to the rest of the team which could see the occasion overraw their visitors.
