Dan Friedkin has finally agreed a deal to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri, ending years of turmoil and promising a new era of prosperity.

The super-rich American has already showcased his qualities as an owner of AS Roma, another huge club in Italy, and the hope is that he can translate what he has learnt to achieve quick-fire success in Merseyside.

However, before he even gets underway, there are undoubtedly three outstanding things that he must be ready to do after taking over Everton.

Dan Friedkin must wipe Everton clear of debt

Firstly, and this is crucial if the club is to become a sustainable long-term asset, is to wipe the club clear of its debt.

Prior to his takeover, it was estimated that the Toffees owed around £600m to various parties, with Dan Friedkin one such benefactor.

Naturally, his slice should now convert into equity, which still leaves behind a huge sum that needs solving.

However, having already shown his ability to wipe AS Roma clear of any financial fear, doing the same at Everton, which resides in a division as lucrative as the Premier League, makes far more sense to ensure that he can start earning back from what he has already put in.

Everton’s takeover has to finish Bramley-Moore Dock funding

Naturally, one of the outstanding assets that will have drawn Friedkin to Everton in the first place was the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

After all, the commercial benefits of this new arena are limitless, even if it has proved to be a huge financial drain for years now.

But, due to be completed by the end of this calendar year, there is still a solid chunk of funding which needs sorting out to ensure that their debts do not mount.

This marks another financial request for Friedkin, but one that would once again free him up to earn plenty more back for the club from the stadium alone.

Dan Friedkin needs to make a decision on Sean Dyche

Finally, and perhaps most importantly given the repercussions it could have on their ability to stay in the Premier League, Friedkin must make a decision on Sean Dyche too.

The 53-year-old has been on thin ice ever since the season began, starting with four straight losses in the league and having already been dumped out of the Carabao Cup too.

However, having already steered the club to safety twice, through the most unrelenting financial turmoil last campaign too, he must have some credit in the bank.

So, should Friedkin get in charge before the New Year, he will have to make his decision on the manager and stick with it.

Whether that means a show of faith or replacing him instantly, the sooner he settles on a choice the better. This could be the difference between the club he has inherited being a Premier League or a Championship club.
