Everton defender Nathan Patterson could be set to leave soon, and one new claim today perhaps doesn’t put David Moyes in a good light.
Everton’s pre-season is now underway, and the club still haven’t brought in a new right-back.
Merlin Rohl was deployed at right-back at the weekend against Dundee, leaving some slightly concerned that he could be the latest square peg put into a round hole.
A new right-back is a priority, with Seamus Coleman having left, and Patterson unlikely to be sticking around.
Nathan Patterson barely featured last term, much to the frustration of many fans.
It was something many couldn’t understand, and it seems the player is actually quite coveted.
Nathan Patterson has interest from clubs across at least three leagues
Patterson made just nine appearances last term for the Toffees, as David Moyes persisted with Jake O’Brien out wide.
The Irishman did have some good outings there.
But he also had some very poor ones, particularly towards the end of the campaign, and some teams saw him as a weak link.
Moyes still refrained from using Patterson though, but his lack of minutes hasn’t put other clubs off.
An Everton insider on X has reported today that Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to sign the Scotland international.
The account wrote: “Eintracht Frankfurt are pursuing a deal for Nathan Patterson from Everton. The Scotland international has also had interest from clubs in La Liga and Serie A.”

This comes after Rangers were also linked with Patterson. The Scottish giants, of course, are the 24-year-old’s former club.
The fact that there are clubs from at least three, maybe four, leagues looking at Patterson feels quite telling.
Moyes, for whatever reason, didn’t want to give Patterson a chance last term, preferring someone who wasn’t even a natural to play at right-back.
And yet, Patterson has all these clubs showing interest in him, and he also still went to the World Cup with Scotland.
Put simply, it doesn’t reflect well on the manager that he is seemingly now quite coveted. If there was little to no interest, that would almost have vindicated Moyes’ decision. But clearly other clubs think there’s a player there in Patterson.
Unfortunately for Patterson it does seem like his time at Hill Dickinson Stadium is over and that he won’t be given a chance to actually nail down the right-back position.
It will be interesting to see if he does end up moving to Eintracht Frankfurt, who are a solid upper-to-mid-table side in the Bundesliga.
They have potential to do well under Adi Hütter, but the main thing for Patterson will clearly be the level of game time he’ll get, after a frustrating time at Everton.
