The Sacha Boey transfer update that may now put Everton on red alert

Everton will go after a new right-back this summer – and a development with Sacha Boey might just have piqued the interest of Toffees officials.

We have seen Jake O’Brien mostly play at right-back this season, but he is a natural centre-back and the desire is to move him inside.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…

James Garner has also played there, but again, he is not a natural option and needs to be playing in midfield.

Nathan Patterson will surely leave this summer, with the Scot seemingly unfancied by David Moyes.

A new right-back is a priority for Everton, and fans are hoping to see the arrival of a natural option who can nail down the position long-term.

Sacha Boey complication could alert Everton

Sacha Boey was a player Everton showed interest in in January, amid a lack of game time at Bayern Munich.

A move did not materialise, but Boey did indeed get a move away from the German club in the end, joining Galatasaray on loan until the end of the season.

That loan move included an option to buy.

But it seems the Turkish giants aren’t overly keen to trigger it and would like the player for cheaper.

Journalist Florian Plettenburg wrote on X yesterday: “Galatasaray can imagine signing Sacha #Boey on a permanent deal.

“However, it is decided they do not want to trigger the €15m (£13 million) option to buy as it stands.

“Gala want to negotiate the fee down or are considering a second loan. At FC Bayern, he is under contract until 2028 but has no future.”

This potentially now opens the door again for Everton.

Ultimately, if Boey has no future at Bayern, then the German giants would surely prefer to sell.

So one would think that Everton have the capacity to trump Gala in any bidding war, especially after the club kept their power dry in January.

It must be noted that Boey is currently in his second spell with the club and therefore has a strong affinity with Gala. So Everton may still have their work cut out.

But with the need for a new right-back being so clear, and Gala in danger of messing Bayern about, there might just be a new chance of a deal.
