Everton may have a potential transfer opportunity as a result of Xabi Alonso’s appointment by Chelsea.
On Sunday, there was big news in the football world with Chelsea confirming that Xabi Alonso will be their new manager, starting this summer.
Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?
The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…
The Spaniard has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid in January.
It’s a big move by Chelsea, who have had a hugely disappointing season, and the expectation is that he’ll get them back challenging for Champions League football.
His arrival there is now likely to prompt a lot of change.
And it seems Liam Delap – who’s been on Everton’s radar for a long time – is highly likely to depart as a result.
Liam Delap set for quick Chelsea exit amid Everton links

TEAMtalk have reported on Liam Delap’s situation following the appointment of Alonso.
They say that Chelsea are ready to fully sell Delap, and that Alonso’s appointment is only going to hasten his exit.
Because Alonso has apparently already requested that a ‘top-quality’ striker be signed by the club this summer.
Delap had wanted to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea, but this update suggests Alonso is not even willing to give him a chance to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.
TEAMtalk add that Everton remain interested in the striker, as do Newcastle United, Brighton and Sunderland.
Everton are said to see Delap as a realistic target to lead their line next season, but are not going to fork out a huge amount to land him.
Most clubs will not be offering the £30 million that Chelsea paid for him.
Historically though, Chelsea have been quite good at selling players so they may well get close to that figure.
Delap would be a risk by Everton
Obviously Everton tried to sign Delap last summer, but he chose to sign for Chelsea and that has turned out to be the wrong decision.
Now the Toffees are linked again, but any move for him would be a risk.
He’s had a very uninspiring season at Chelsea and has struggled for regular starts.
Who would you rather see Everton sign this summer? 🤩
There’s probably little chance of Chelsea selling for that low a fee, so he’d be arriving for fairly big money off the back of a poor campaign.
There is the notion of the player having something to prove and kicking on.
But it’s questionable whether he would. Certainly, he’d need greater creativity around him than Beto and Thierno Barry have had this term.
