David James has made a bold claim ahead of Everton v Manchester City at Goodison Park this Sunday.
The former goalkeeper insists that Pep Guardiola’s side could drop points at Goodison, as Everton are ‘theoretically’ City’s toughest Premier League opponent between now and the end of the season.

Indeed, as James states on Sky Sports News:
“Where would City drop points? Theoretically Everton is going to be possibly the toughest, simply because Sean Dyche will have a way to stop City from playing.
“The motivation for Everton, you would say, is greater than City’s, simply because Everton need the points to stay up, City don’t need the win in order to win the title.”
Everton desperately need the points in a bid to avoid the drop, and will no doubt be looking to build on the impressive 5-1 win at Brighton.
Everton must bring euphoria from Brighton back home to face Manchester City
Everton’s win on Monday lifted the Blues out of the relegation zone and getting something out of the game against City would be an enormous boost for Sean Dyche’s side.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
The Toffees face Wolves away followed by Bournemouth at home after the visit of Pep Guardiola’s side, and the motivation to remain outside the bottom three ahead of the final games of the season will no doubt be a huge incentive for Everton.

City can likely expect a hostile atmosphere on Sunday, and after last night’s 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu, City will surely have one eye on the second leg of their Champions League semi-final next week.
Sean Dyche will be hoping Everton can take advantage of City’s European priorities, and if the Toffees can replicate the performance against Brighton, Everton stand a decent chance of getting something out of the game.
