‘They’re awkward’… Ian Wright and Roy Keane agree on who wins, Everton or Brentford

Ian Wright and Roy Keane both agree on the winner of Everton’s Premier League clash against Brentford on Saturday.

After a memorable Merseyside Derby victory over Liverpool, attention will now turn to the visit of Thomas Frank’s side, who are coming off the back of two wins against Sheffield United and Luton Town.

Sean Dyche’s men are now on the cusp of safety, providing no further points deductions ensue. An eight-point gap with four games left feels like a bridge too far for Rob Edwards’ side.

Wednesday’s heroics cannot be a one-off. Several players demonstrated they’re more than capable of mixing it with the Premier League’s best. The standard has now been set, and Goodison is now expectant.

After the midweek high, a lull in performance cannot be ruled out. The victory over Jurgen Klopp’s men must be used as a springboard.

Brentford were superb against Luton last week. Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Keane Lewis-Potter were exceptional in transition and caused what was a leaky Luton defence all kinds of issues.

Speaking on the latest edition of The Overlap, Keane and Wright have suggested the visitors could be an “awkward” opponent.

Wright said: “I think Brentford will beat them. They’re awkward, aren’t they?

Keane replied: “You’ve picked the first two; let me go for this one. 2-1 Brentford, we need to get something back.”

Should Sean Dyche make changes against Brentford?

After an intense midweek, changes could well be on the cards for Saturday’s clash. Midfield feels like the area that could be freshened up.

Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner worked tirelessly on Wednesday evening and could be due a rest. Amadou Onana feels like the most likely candidate to come into the side.

Another point of interest will centre around Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Englishman produced a vintage centre-forward performance on Wednesday and could be required to complete another 90 minutes in quick succession.

The 27-year-old’s fitness issues have been well-documented, so it will be intriguing to see if he’s fit to stay the course at the weekend.
