Thierno Barry has struggled in his first season at Everton.
Some Everton fans even want the Frenchman sold after a tough debut campaign on Merseyside, following his £27m move from Villarreal in July. The Everton No.11 has netted just eight goals in 35 Premier League appearances.
Barry has looked more effective as a substitute, coming off the bench to score important goals against Leeds and Manchester City at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to win Everton two points.
If the man born in Lyon scores another goal as a substitute in the clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday, he will match a Premier League record for Everton currently held by Victor Anichebe and Oumar Niasse.
Do we all owe this man an apology after his performance against Man City? 👀
Credit where it's due, he was absolutely fantastic! 👏
Thierno Barry close to setting a new Premier League record for Everton
Only Anichebe and Niasse have scored more Premier League goals as substitutes for Everton than Barry’s current total of three.
Anichebe netted four off the bench during the 2011/12 campaign, while Niasse scored four goals as a substitute in the 2017/18 season.
So, Barry has a chance to match the duo if David Moyes starts him on the bench at Selhurst Park – and will even set a new Premier League record for Everton if he manages to score twice as a substitute.
The 23-year-old will have another chance to achieve the feat if the trip to south London bears no fruit, with Everton taking on Tottenham in north London on the final day.
It suggests Barry prefers to sit and take a look at the opposition backline before entering the fray, rather than be thrown straight into the action from the first whistle, when he can look quite lost.

That should give Moyes some food for thought, and perhaps show the Glaswegian that he needs to do more analysis work with the youngster before opting to start him next season.
