With the January transfer window just around the corner, attention turns over to what Everton will do.

A Premier League relegation battle looks inevitable for another season as the Toffees sit in the lower regions of the table.

Sean Dyche isn’t likely to do too much business in the winter window as the wait for The Friedkin Group to complete their takeover rumbles on.

But, if were to try and bring players to Goodison Park, some players may need to be moved on in order to raise some extra funds.

Here at Everton News, we’ve picked three players that could be sold by the club.

Three Everton stars who could be sold in January

It may be harsh to consider selling someone who has spent so long out with injury, but Nathan Patterson is still yet to really show the Everton fans what he is made of.

His return to the first team has been blocked by the sensational form of Ashley Young this season but even then, only featuring once when your competition is a 39-year-old and a 36-year-old in Seamus Coleman isn’t a good reflection.

Patterson is still only 23 and has plenty of time to reach the promised heights, however, that may not be on Merseyside and a good offer shouldn’t be ignored.

Idrissa Gueye

Perhaps the most controversial of the three but with Idrissa Gueye the wrong side of 30, there isn’t many more chances left for the Toffees to get some sort of fee.

The 35-year-old has been a regular in the Everton first team but is out of contract at the end of the season and it’s hard to imagine him playing a role in the long term.

There are plenty of other central midfield options too and even if it’s a small fee, Gueye’s wages of £80,000 per week – according to Capology – could be put to better use elsewhere.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Once Everton’s talisman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been misfiring for The Blues this season.

Calvert-Lewin is the worst for offside statistics in the Premier League and has even been dropped for Beto, who has been linked with a move away.

Finding a replacement would be a difficult task but despite the forward’s struggles, the England international would have plenty of suitors prepared to take a gamble on him.

His English status also means the Toffees could afford to inflate his transfer fee to any divisional rivals while the likes of Juventus are also interested in signing Calvert-Lewin.

It would be a tough goodbye, but one that could improve the squad wholesale.
