Tim Cahill will go down as an Everton legend for his time and service on Mersyeside, and he’s back at it with a goal that will give supporters flashbacks from a charity match.

Sean Dyche could really do with a man of Tim Cahill‘s stature in his current Everton side, as goal contributions have been hard to come by at times this season.

The Australian had a knack of popping up with goals at the perfect time with his marauding runs into the box and deceivingly good heading ability. His versatility was also a strong point of his, with the ability to play anywhere down the middle during his playing career.

He scored 68 goals and laid on 28 assists in his 278 appearances for the Toffees.

Now, he’s rolled back the years with a lovely taken header in a charity match against Ronaldinho.

Everton fans have been growing tired of Dominic Calvert-Lewin due to his inability to influence the game in the final third, and even Dwight McNeil to some extent in recent games.

Cahill could have slotted seamlessly into this current Everton team and would offer them something that’s been missing at times, and that is fight and hunger.

Despite not being the tallest of players, Cahill was known for his aerial ability at Everton, constantly causing issues for even some of the best defenders in the Premier League at the time.

He’s clearly still got that leap and accuracy from the head, as he took to X to share a video of his calm finish against Ronaldinho’s side in a charity match recently.

Everton’s current midfield struggles

Dwight McNeil has been tasked with operating behind the striker for the majority of this season, and it worked out for him with a brace against Crystal Palace, but other than that he’s not done much.

Iliman Ndiaye has been a bright spark on the left, but he’d make more sense through the middle as that’s his natural position, but Sean Dyche has already said there’s no reason to play him there.

Abdoulaye Doucoure had been a regular producer in years gone by in midfield, certainly at Watford. But, him and his fellow central midfielders have offered very little going forward.

Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom just haven’t offered much either. There have been bright sparks from the latter but they don’t look like a pair who will give you many contributions moving forward.
