Everton summer signing Arnaut Danjuma has had a fairly slow start to life at Goodison Park, and he has now hinted that he would like to play in a different position.
The Dutch International arrived on loan from Villarreal in the summer window, but has started just three Premier League games so far, scoring once.
In his appearances so far, he has played as a centre-forward and on the right wing for the most part, and he has now expressed his desire to play in his best position, on the left.
Danjuma prefers the left-wing
Speaking to Astro SuperSport, Danjuma claimed that in the past, some of his best performances have come off the left wing, but his versatility means that he can play elsewhere across the front line.
“I’d describe myself as a left-winger. I’ve played in so many positions, and I’ve had good spells in the different positions as well,” he stated.
“At Villarreal we played 4-4-2 and I played as one of the two strikers. When I played at Bournemouth I had a very good season, and I played as a left winger in a 4-3-3.
“I’ve played for Everton a couple of times now and I’ve played on the right side, where to be honest with you, I’ve barely ever played in my career, but again, I’m always trying to embrace new challenges and show that I’m there when the team needs me.”
Danjuma’s best position

His time at Villarreal saw him play as a centre-forward in a front two, as well as a left-winger, and it was clear that his best performances were on the left wing.
He would move upfront when striker Gerard Moreno was absent with injury, but often he would lack the physical presence of Moreno or Boulaye Dia, and would sometimes disappear in games where he would be effectively marked whilst in the middle.
On the left wing, he is able to dribble into space and use his time on the ball to try and create chances, as well as cut in on his right foot to shoot.
Sean Dyche can do himself a favour by trying Danjuma in his preferred position. If he replicates his best form at Villarreal, which saw him score 16 goals in his first season in Spain, then he could prove to be a useful asset for Everton.
