Evertonian Tony Bellew has reacted to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s sending-off against Crystal Palace, and he’s not happy.

The FA Cup returned on Thursday night in an ultimately dull and uninspiring affair as Everton travelled south to take on Crystal Palace.

The two teams played out a 0-0 draw which means they’ll have to face a replay against one another at Goodison Park later this month.

James Garner scuppered arguably Everton’s biggest chance of the game as his shot went sky-high towards the end.

The game will ultimately be defined however by the referee’s decision to send Dominic Calvert-Lewin off in the 79th minute.

The decision was ridiculous and even caused a look of bewilderment from the Palace players. Now in the aftermath, former heavyweight boxer and champion of the world, Tony Bellew, has reacted.

Tony Bellew reacts to Dominic Calvert-Lewin red card

The decision to show Calvert-Lewin a red card for his tackle which was a feather’s touch on the Palace player hasn’t gone down well in the Everton fanbase.

Among those left fuming, is famous the Evertonian named Bellew. After the decision, he took to X with a raging verdict.

“DISGRACEFUL!! Never ever a red card.. wins the ball and it’s actually a great tackle!!”

Bellew is absolutely right too and this is a decision which will be much discussed over the next few days as VAR and referees endure yet another howler.

Everton legend Peter Reid agree with Bellew in upsetting message

Bellew wasn’t the only person to be left aghast with the decision-making by the officials as Everton legend Peter Reid also took to X with a message.

Unlike Bellew, Reid didn’t seem to be angry, instead upset and at his wits-end with officiating.

He wrote: “I’ve lost the will to live, games gone.”

A sentiment shared by many however sad it is to hear.
