Everton have completed the signing of Tyler Dibling from Southampton.

Everton have been in talks to sign Dibling for weeks, and finally the saga came to a close on Monday after a £40m package was agreed.

The Toffees will pay an initial £35m plus a further £5m in add-ons, which looks like very good business after they were quoted £50m.

Dibling will wear the number 20 shirt and is eligible to make his debut in the Carabao Cup clash against Mansfield Town on Wednesday.

Speaking to Everton’s media team, the 19-year-old has revealed what ambitious goal David Moyes has set him to achieve during his career on Merseyside.

Tyler Dibling reveals what goal David Moyes has set for him at Everton

In his first interview with Everton, Dibling revealed that Moyes wants to get him playing in England’s senior squad.

“He’s perfect for me because obviously what he’s done for other players that were in my position and yeah I’ve spoke to him and yeah he’s going to be good for me and I hope he gets the best out of me and I’m sure he will,” the teenager said.

“He just said yeah I’m excited, I want you to be a part of the team and hopefully you can play for England one day, that was his words.”

Asked about whether he can draw inspiration from Pickford and Branthwaite, he added: “Yeah it shows that the pathway is there to be an international and I’m only going to do that by playing well for Everton, so I’m focused on just doing my best here and whatever will be will be”

Russell Martin expects Tyler Dibling to play for England one day

Dibling’s former Southampton manager Russell Martin told Gary Lineker in March that he’s convinced the teenager will play for England.

“He’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen – ever worked with. I worked with James Maddison at that age at Norwich, he was outstanding.

“Tyler has every capability to go and play for England and at a top level for a very long time.

“He’s powerful, he’s really quick, both feet, can shoot. I worked with Harry Kane and physically the stuff I’ve seen him do at 18 in the Premier League with people just bouncing off him – he has something I’ve not seen in a British player in a long time.”

Interestingly, Martin also explained that Dibling will eventually play in a central role, rather than out wide.

“He’ll play as a No.8 or a No.10 eventually, but he’s 18 so we played him out wide and he was incredible.

“He can play wide, we played him as a false nine in pre-season and he was our best player.”
