Israeli midfielder Idan Tal played for Everton between 2000 and 2002 and clearly retains a lot of affection for the club’s fans.

He has given an interview to the club’s official website, talking about his time at Goodison Park under Walter Smith and then David Moyes.

It’s clear that Tal would’ve liked to have played more regularly at Everton and achieved more as a Toffee.

But he has nothing but good things to say about the club’s fans, over 20 years on from when he first arrived.

“With this crowd, it was unbelievable. It is one of the best, if not the best, in the Premier League. It is very loyal.

“I was in shock at away games. We weren’t in a good situation but still they came to see us in their thousands. They were always with the team.”

Tal’s comments only reinforce the frustration that supporters are not allowed into Goodison at present.

It’s clear that he still holds the club in high esteem and at least part of that is down to the fans.
