‘Under the microscope’: Journalist now claims that an Everton defeat today could have repercussions for Sean Dyche

Everton are perhaps not in a full-blown crisis yet, but things are on edge right now ahead of today’s huge clash with AFC Bournemouth.

Everton are just one point above Bournemouth, who are 19th in the league and are without a win yet, and the Cherries will visit Goodison Park knowing that they can copy Luton Town and walk away with a result.

Whilst there have been no indications yet that Dyche is under heavy pressure, it has now been claimed that a poor result today could change things for the worse.

Dyche needs a win today

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones has now claimed that Dyche’s position could come under serious scrutiny if Everton lose at home to Bournemouth, with this result potentially seeing Everton drop down into the relegation zone.

“We are approaching the stage when it is typical for a top-flight manager to lose their job, and Dyche is one man who could be under the microscope in the international break if things go wrong for him this weekend,” Jones claimed.

“Everton’s defeat to Luton was a real blow, and this clash against Bournemouth already has the feel of a six-pointer. Iraola has plenty to prove himself after a slow start in England, but Dyche is probably under most pressure to win on Saturday, and if this one goes wrong, things will get pretty intense.

“If they lose to Bournemouth, they will be looking with some trepidation towards the next match because it’s against Liverpool!”

Everton have survived relegation battles in the last two seasons, and the current trajectory of the club means they are set to be in the depressing dogfight again.

However, their luck may start to run out. If Everton lose to two potential relegation rivals at home within a week, it would be a seriously worrying sign, and it may even be a week so disastrous that Sean Dyche loses his job.

Picking up points against the teams around you is so crucial when down at the bottom end of the table, and today’s game already feels like a six-pointer given that Bournemouth, who many predicted would finish comfortably clear of the drop zone, would gain momentum from their first victory.

If Everton cannot produce a result or performance today, then the two-week international break may provide the perfect opportunity for someone else to come in and prepare for the Merseyside derby.
