Everton manager Sean Dyche has now provided an update on the fitness of 26-year-old forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The England international is yet to feature for the Blues this pre-season and the Everton boss has stated he is ‘hopeful’ he will be fit again soon, revealing he’s ‘happy’ with his progress.

Speaking with The Athletic about Everton’s star forward, Sean Dyche said: “He’s (Calvert-Lewin) still crossing over between training and getting the extra fitness work he needs in. From what I’m told of his session today (Saturday), it went well.
And that was quite a heavy session. We’re happy with that and he seems to be in a good place, so we’re hopeful he can carry on building from that.”
Everton must relieve the burden on Dominic Calvert-Lewin by signing additional attackers
Everton are yet to recruit a centre-forward this summer, with versatile attacker Arnaut Danjuma, who is on loan from Villarreal, starting upfront in last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Stoke City.
The Toffees were fortuitous to return to Merseyside with the win and once again looked toothless upfront, largely down to a midfield that created very little.

Both Neal Maupay and Lewis Dobbin got a second half run out, but neither impressed and the 1-0 win papered over the desperate need to recruit a centre-forward.
Everton have already missed out on a number of key targets this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres opting for Sporting CP over the Toffees, while El Bilal Toure favoured a move to Atalanta.

Indeed, Everton have already parted ways with Ellis Simms, who moved to Coventry City for £3.5m, while Demarai Gray has also been linked with a Goodison Park exit.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin cannot return to fitness soon enough, however the club cannot go into another season relying solely on their injury-prone centre-forward.
Everton welcome Sporting CP to Goodison Park this Saturday for their final pre-season game of the summer, so perhaps the 26-year-old will be fit enough to get some minutes under his belt this weekend.
