Wes Brown suggests he’s been very impressed by ‘really good’ Everton player who could go to the ‘very top’

Jarrad Branthwaite’s performances have caught the eye during the 2023/24 season.

The 21-year-old has formed an excellent partnership with James Tarkowski and helped Everton amass eight clean sheets in the Premier League.

Unsurprisingly, rumours have swelled over his future at Goodison Park, with Manchester United reportedly monitoring his progress.

And now, one of United’s former defenders has been discussing Branthwaite’s future prospects.

Talking to DAZN, Wes Brown has claimed he has been very impressed by the Everton man’s performances.

“It would be nice for the club [Manchester United] to go and get some younger players like Branthwaite,” he said.

“You have to look at the personality of players when making these decisions and what I mean by that are players who are going to give 100% and give it their all. That’s a big contributor when you’re buying people, and he seems like a motivated young player.”

He added: “Branthwaite is a really good player and done well at Everton, although you never know how players will turn out. Look at Lisandro Martinez – nobody had a lot of faith in him when he first came in, but I think he’s been really good because he has the required attitude that you need to play with at Manchester United. If Branthwaite possesses that, then there’s no reason why he can’t go to the very top.”

Everton are in strong position

Everton are in a strong position when it comes to the 21-year-old’s future. There’s no immediate need to sell, with the defender contracted until the summer of 2027.

Furthermore, given his age, the Toffees can look to demand a significant fee should interest materialise in the summer.

For now, Sean Dyche has remained steadfast on the defender’s future and insisted there’s no need to sell at the moment.

“We don’t want to sell any good players. It’s as simple as that, and he’s proven to be a very good player,” he said.

“We’re not in the business of trying to sell players. You only sell players if you have to sell players or there’s a problem. There’s no problem; therefore, I’m just hoping we don’t need to sell players. At the minute, we certainly don’t. So we will see.”
