Former Everton striker Cenk Tosun has sent a message to Sunday’s goalscoring hero Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Everton secured Premier League safety courtesy of a 1-0 win over Bournemouth, with £20m man Doucoure bagging the winning goal.

Indeed, the Mali international recently signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club for another season.

Posting on his Instagram account, Doucoure said: “EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB !!! JOB DONE See you Next season.”

The post, which so far has over 14,000 likes, was commented on by former Everton forward Cenk Tosun, who replied: “What a guy.”

Doucoure was vital for Everton this season and his contributions kept them in the PL

Abdoulaye Doucoure was rejuvenated by the January appointment of Sean Dyche after a reported falling out with former manager Frank Lampard.

The 30-year-old midfielder featured in every game under Dyche, minus the three for which he was banned following a sending off against Spurs in April.

During this run, Doucs scored five goals and contributed two assists, with his most notable contribution of course being the winner against Bournemouth on Sunday.

However, it all could have been so different, as the midfielder was reportedly close to joining Fulham in January, a deal which fell through at the last minute.

Had the Malian departed for Craven Cottage, the Blues could well have been relegated, such was his outstanding contribution in recent months.

Tosun meanwhile is back in his native Turkiye with Besiktas, where he scored 17 goals in 32 games in all competitions this season.

The 31-year-old joined Everton from Besiktas back in January 2018 in a £27m deal, though managed just nine Premier League goals in 50 appearences.

Following loan deals to Crystal Palace in 2020 and Besiktas in 2021, Tosun returned to Besiktas permanently in 2022 for his third stint with the club.
