Everton are looking to sign Karl Etta Eyong from Levante this summer.

Ben Jacobs claims that the Toffees are keen on Etta Eyong as his star begins to rise in Spain, where the Cameroon international has netted six goals and provided three assists across 22 appearances in La Liga so far this season.

Should The Friedkin Group manage to sign the Levante No.21 for David Moyes this summer, it would be a seriously exciting deal for Everton considering what Spanish media outlets say about the 22-year-old.

Would you rather sign a promising young striker overseas or a proven Premier League centre-forward? 🤔

Everton target Karl Etta Eyong has been called the new Samuel Eto’o

Everton fans caught a glimpse of Samuel Eto’o towards the end of his hugely successful career, taking the Cameroon legend on a free transfer in August 2014 after he left Chelsea.

The man from Douala only scored four goals in 20 appearances before signing for Sampdoria in January 2015 – but Everton fans could see the heir to his throne in Cameroon rock up at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Etta Eyong.

The youngster – also born in Douala – has been told he is following in the footsteps of Samuel Eto’o by Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo as he begins to take La Liga by storm.

El Nacional also make the comparison, calling Etta Eyong the new Eto’o while adding that he has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.

The Everton target has even admitted to watching the former Toffee for inspiration while growing up, telling SportyTV: “When I was a child, I used to watch Eto’o’s games at Barcelona.”

So, the chance to sign for a club Eto’o played for in Everton might be of interest to the Levante wonderkid, although the aforementioned Jacobs does add that the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid are lurking too – so the competition for his signature is fierce.

Everton need to be sure over Karl Etta Eyong

We respect that The Friedkin Group have looked to sign players of promise for Everton recently, such as Merlin Rohl, Adam Aznou and Tyler Dibling.

However, Moyes has not seemed to trust these prospects to play regularly for him this season, presumably because he feels they’re not ready.

Rohl has made just two Premier League starts, while Aznou hasn’t played a second of Premier League football.

Dibling – who Moyes recently called out in the media to improve – only has four starts in the Premier League.

Winter window now shut, what striker do you want signed in the summer for Everton? 💥

Everton must therefore be wary of packing the squad with too many prospects – which Ange Postecoglou moaned at Tottenham for doing recently – instead of handing Moyes senior players who can deliver for him immediately.
