When Friedkin hope to complete Everton takeover and plans for January transfers

There is great anticipation around Goodison Park, for what is in store for Everton across the next 12 months.

After all, not only will they soon be walking into their new home on the Bramley-Moore Dock, but they will also be under new ownership, with Dan Friedkin having agreed a deal to purchase the club just last month.

At last Farhad Moshiri‘s reign will come to an end, thus sparking a new era of fresh positivity on Merseyside.

Even before the deal has been ratified and their control confirmed though, the Friedkins are already planning ahead.

Dan Friedkin’s Everton January plans revealed

The latest on the Friedkin Group’s takeover progress comes courtesy of iNews, who have turned their attention away from revealing the highly-rated agent who Friedkin wants to bring in his Everton advisor, instead now focusing on their January plans.

The report reads: ‘Everton’s prospective owners the Friedkin Group have begun the search for big hitters to join their Goodison Park revolution, with a comprehensive audit of the club underway.

I understands the group, a consortium owned by billionaire businessman Dan Friedkin, hopes to have cleared regulatory hurdles by December and want to be in a position to “hit the ground running” when the takeover is confirmed. So far, it’s understood, the process is progressing as planned with no red flags raised.

‘It’s expected that with Everton’s Premier League status precarious there will be room for investment in the January transfer window, as well as fresh impetus in contract talks that have been paused while the takeover progresses – but with no decisions made on the future of manager Sean Dyche or director of football Kevin Thelwell the more immediate, noticeable impact may be off the field at first.’

Everton should avoid spending big in January

Whilst this is completely dependent on their Premier League position at the time, the Toffees, under new rule, will want to be careful about how they attack life with new ownership.

After all, it would be so easy to get wrapped up in the bright new future laid out ahead of them, making a mess of it all with a few reckless, lucrative deals.

Moshiri will know that better than anyone.

So, whilst there are suggestions that a big January could be in the offing, if they are in a solid position in the league table, perhaps it would make far more sense to just save that money and instead look ahead to the following summer.

Then, with Everton manager Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell’s contracts set to expire, Friedkin has the chance to start fresh, should he desire to.

It would therefore be somewhat confusing to then hand this duo a lump sum in January unless absolutely necessary to bolster key areas and keep them in the division.

This should mark the first intelligent move of Friedkin’s tenure at Everton: to prioritise the summer.
