When senior Everton figures now ‘believe’ 777 Partners’ takeover will be completed

With Everton’s on-pitch fortunes taking a dramatic turn for the better, the domino effect that is set to kickstart could be revolutionary for a club that has been downtrodden for so long now.

Despite Farhad Moshiri’s 2016 arrival promising a new era of prosperity, the Iranian has instead only overseen mass regression, culminating in their back-to-back relegation battles in recent years.

Only now, under the careful guidance of Sean Dyche, does it seem like some stability has returned to Goodison Park at last.

That is, despite a takeover rumbling on in the background, and with the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium constantly moving closer to completion.

The former has been ongoing since a deal was struck back in September, with 777 Partners still awaiting the Premier League’s decision regarding their capability as an owner.

Well, TEAMtalk have now offered an update at last, suggesting that the takeover will be finalised, and even offering a time frame for such completion.

They write: ‘Despite the reports claiming that 777’s takeover could collapse, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that senior figures within Everton believe it will be completed before the end of December.

‘This suggests that the ownership change will take place before the 22nd of December, as that is when most clubs will cease their business activities before the Christmas period.’

Why do Everton fans not want 777 Partners in charge?

There has been plenty of backlash aimed at 777 Partners ever since they agreed a deal to purchase all of Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in Everton, given the somewhat troubled history of the Miami-based firm within the footballing world.

Given their penchant for purchasing distressed assets, with the likes of Genoa, Hertha Berlin and Sevilla all captured during true low points in their history, it is unsurprising to see the bulk of them struggle under the umbrella of Josh Wander and his co-workers.

They have given themselves a monumental task to return so many clubs back to the top, and as such the continued widespread underperformance has seen many fans question the likelihood that they will progress the Toffees.

Not only that, but the manner in which 777 Partners made their fortune has drawn scrutiny too, with The Washington Post even describing their structured settlement annuities plan used as a ‘predatory financial practise’.

Although Evertonians are unsurprisingly keen to see Moshiri depart Merseyside, even if his work on the stadium has been exemplary, they will still want to be handed over to the right owners.

Given the controversy that has come with this deal, perhaps it might be a case of the Iranian jumping ship rather than wisely passing the reins to a more competent custodian.
