Where Everton’s annual wage bill ranks in the Premier League

Everton have been forced to cut costs over the last few years as they contended with PSR issues.

Although, since the Friedkin Group’s arrival, Everton have been able to move forward as a club and start to invest more heavily in the squad.

High-earners like Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined from Manchester City and Chelsea last summer, so that was certainly a shift in the sort of calibre of player they were previously signing.

Even still, the Toffees have one of the lower wage bills in the Premier League, as they reside in the bottom half of the rankings.

According to Capology’s data, David Moyes’ squad sit in 12th place for the division’s annual wage bill.

David Moyes is overachieving considering Everton’s wage bill

Of course, a club’s wage bill isn’t a direct factor in how successful they should be, but it’s certainly an indicator.

With that said, based on that particular metric, Everton are perhaps overperforming this season, as they currently reside in eighth place.

The Toffees are only three points off a European spot, so they’re certainly in the race for Conference League football, or perhaps even the Europa League.

Moyes has openly admitted Europe is the goal this season, but he’s well aware that his side are too inconsistent at the moment.
