TalkSPORT correspondent Alex Crook has shared the latest on Jarrad Branthwaite’s future after Manchester United submitted a bid for the Everton defender.
According to The Guardian, United have made an initial offer of £45m, including add-ons. However, it’s understood Everton have knocked back the offer, with the Toffees looking for nearer £70million for their star man.
Despite personal terms reportedly being agreed, it’s understood United could face issues during their negotiations for the 22-year-old Cumbrian.
Another dimension emerged after reports suggested that the Toffees could be forced to sell players before June 30 in order to comply with financial regulations. Crook has now shared an update.
The latest on Everton’s June 30 deadline

Taking to X on Saturday evening, Crook confirmed Everton were quick to shoot down United’s initial offer.
He wrote: “Re Branthwaite EFC quick to dismiss MUFC opening offer worth £35m plus add-ons. Their stance is he’s worth as much as Harry Maguire.”
The talkSPORT journalist went on to provide a positive update on Everton’s reported need to sell before the end of the month.
He added: “Also insist they aren’t under pressure to sell before June 30.”
Everton must drive a hard bargain in Jarrad Branthwaite negotiations
After Manchester United’s low-ball opening bid, the Red Devils will no doubt return and test Everton’s resolve before the summer is out.
And after Branthwaite reportedly agreed personal terms, the Cumbrian’s exit feels like a matter of when and not if.
For the Toffees, looking to drive a hard bargain is a must. Considering some of the transfer fees thrashed out in the modern game, Branthwaite is worth every single penny of the Blues’ £70m price tag.
If an offer of anything under that number is accepted, Evertonians will be rightfully aggrieved.
