Everton are now showing interest in the transfer of an Atletico Mineiro wonderkid by the name of Alisson Santana, so here is everything that you need to know about him.

Transfer plans on the blue side of Stanley Park have been steady this summer as Everton try to stay free of another breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR). It saw Sean Dyche battle two points deductions last term but he kept them clear of relegation.

Attacking options also remain in demand at Goodison Park as Dyche looks for the firepower to keep the Toffees clear of the drop once more. So, Everton have opened talks with Atletico MG about a potential move to sign Alisson before the transfer window closes on August 30.

Everton are interested in signing Atletico MG prospect Alisson Santana

That is according to O Tempo, which reports that Everton have made Atletico Mineiro a first offer for Alisson’s transfer. The Brazilian publication claims the Blues have opened talks and that a deal could even be agreed in the last weeks of the window, despite fighting rival bids.

Multiple teams have approached Atletico MG about Alisson, but Everton aroused the most appetite to strike a deal for one of the Brazilian Serie A side’s academy sensations. Yet how much the Toffees are willing to pay remains to be seen with their offer so far unconfirmed.

What is likely is that Alisson’s transfer would come in below the €60m (£51m) release clause that Atletico MG included in his contract when the wonderkid agreed to a new contract until December 2027 back in September. Atletico Mineiro have loved his progress in the academy.

But who is Alisson and why are Everton interested in his potential transfer from Atletico MG this summer? Here is everything that you need to know about the forward on Dyche’s radar.

Who is Everton transfer target Alisson Santana?

Alisson is a product of the Atletico Mineiro youth system who O Tempo notes has been one of the revelations of Galo’s academy in recent seasons. The youngster even made his senior debut at just 17 years, nine months and 17 days old in a Brazilian Serie A game in July 2023.

Iconic Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari awarded Alisson his first-team debut when Atletico Mineiro lost 1-0 at home to Corinthians. Scolari opted to introduce Alisson as a 76th-minute substitute with Galo trailing in the match but the forward was unable to help rescue a point.

Scolari also gave Alisson his Campeonato Mineiro debut in January 2024 before the tactician left Atletico MG this March. Gabriel Milito took over the Arena MRV outfit and gifted Alisson his Copa Libertadores debut in a 4-1 win away to the Venezuelan side, Caracas FC, in April.

What position does Alisson Santana play?

How good is Alisson Santana?

It will be hard for Dyche to know just how well Alisson would adapt to the Premier League if Everton can agree on a fee for his transfer with Atletico Mineiro. The Brazilian forward is still very much a raw prospect and is completely unproven outside of Brazil, let alone in England.

Everton would very much be betting on turning Alisson from a rough gem into a diamond on Merseyside, given his limited senior involvement to date for Atletico MG. But the Toffees do see potential in his legs to justify opening talks proving to be more alluring than their rivals’.

Everton are in talks for the last-gasp transfer of Alisson despite the attacker still being in the early stages of his first-team career for Atletico Mineiro. The forward is also yet to represent Brazil at any level, having never been called up for a Selecao side during his fledgling career.
