‘Wonderful’… Glenn Murray stunned by what he saw Everton player do today

It was late heartbreak once again for Sean Dyche as he saw his Everton side lose 3-1 to West Ham United.

The Toffees took the lead in the second half after an excellent piece of play from James Garner set up Beto to open the scoring.

However, the visitors replied eight minutes later as Kurt Zouma netted against his former side.

Much like the loss draw against Brighton last time out, it was injury-time drama as Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez secured all three points for David Moyes’ men.

Despite a disappointing afternoon, Garner’s assist for Everton’s opener caught the eye and was praised by Glenn Murray on BBC Sports’ Final Score.

Talking on Final Score, the former Brighton striker said: “James Garner just whips in a wonderful ball and invites Beto to go and head it.

He added: “He has just redeemed himself there for that penalty miss. Great header from the big man.

Beto’s goal will see the scrutiny lessened slightly after he missed a penalty earlier in the proceedings.

Should Evertonians be concerned?

Everton were boosted earlier in the week after the Premier League handed four points back; however, with the wins drying up, are fans right to be concerned?

The lack of goals are a real worry. The Toffees’ front men look wholly drained of confidence. Neither look like adding a prolific edge to Dyche’s side.

The starting XI have been defensively sound, but James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford are almost required to keep a clean sheet to guarantee the chance of a win.

The Goodison Park defeat sees Everton drop one place to 16th. Things don’t get any easier with a tough-looking trip to Manchester United next Saturday.

At the moment, it’s hard to see where that first win is coming from.

Talking after the fixture, Tarkowski highlighted the goalscoring issue at Goodison Park.

“We have to take ownership, we create chances and defend well, but we don’t put the ball in the back of the net,” he told BBC Sport.

“We didn’t put the game to bed, the penalty, four or five great opportunities, you get punished in this league.”
