Everton could be on the verge of completing a new signing.
TEAMtalk believe Everton want Harry Wilson as Fulham struggle to agree a new contract with the Welshman, who becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
That report also interestingly states that the Fulham No.8 wants to return to the north of England, where he resided when playing for Liverpool from 2005 until a £12m move to Craven Cottage in 2022.
Now, as they risk losing Wilson for nothing in a matter of months, Fulham are close to striking a £35m deal which very much suggests they could be about to cash in and sell the Wales international to David Moyes.
How good of a signing would this be for Everton? 👀
Everton are showing an interest…
Fulham near £35m Oscar Bobb agreement as Everton work on Harry Wilson deal
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed on X (previously known as Twitter) that Fulham are in talks over a £35m deal with Manchester City for the signing of Oscar Bobb.
The reliable Italian journalist added on YouTube that an agreement is “very close” between both sides.
Crucially, the Norway international plays in the same position as Wilson out on the right flank.
Considering the Everton target has shone this season with seven goals and four assists in 21 Premier League appearances, Fulham would surely have spent this significant fee on bolstering another position, unless Wilson was about to leave, that is.
In fact, this £35m sum would signal a club-record agreement for Fulham, narrowly surpassing the £34.6m spent to sign Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk back in September.
What Harry Wilson last said about his future as Everton lurk
Despite playing some of the best football of his career under Marco Silva so far this season, Wilson – who Everton fans would love to have – sounds very much open to a departure.
When last asked for an update on his contract situation at the end of December, the 28-year-old said: “This next contract has got to be right for me and my family. We’ll see what happens.”
If you were David Moyes, which three players would you want to sign in January?
The mention of “family” does allude to what TEAMtalk claim about the attacker wanting to move back to the north, so Everton fans should have a fair bit of confidence about The Friedkin Group completing this deal, in our opinion at least.
News of Fulham spending a club-record fee on Bobb only strengthens our belief that Wilson may well be heading to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, at least in the summer if not this month.
