Everton already have some targets in mind ahead of the summer transfer window, but one now seems highly unlikely to join.

The most likely arrivals for David Moyes as things stand would appear to be familiar faces, with John Stones keen to return to Everton – while Jack Grealish is also hopeful of coming back to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for next season.

Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucuk recently claimed that Everton want Gabriel Sara from Galatasaray to bolster the midfield department too – but the Brazilian has now told Globo Esporte about his aspirations to win the UEFA Champions League, strongly suggesting he would not consider joining the Toffees.

Sunday marks the final home game of the season for Everton! 😳

Gabriel Sara aiming higher than Everton

After a run of five games without a win, Everton are unlikely to qualify for any European competition this season, and are therefore not exactly in the best position to sign the Brazil international.

Sara – who Galatasaray signed from Norwich for £15.3m back in August 2024 – told Globo Esporte: “I think I’m living my best moment. Considering the level of competition I’ve faced this season, from the Champions League to the Brazilian national team, I feel like I’m at my peak so far. We played against some of the best teams and players in the world. We faced Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and I even had the experience of playing for the national team against France.

“But I’m happy, not satisfied. I still feel I have a lot of fuel left in the tank and a lot of room to grow. I dream of playing in the Champions League, but also of winning the Champions League. I want to play in the World Cup, but my dream is to win the World Cup.”

Everton have an exciting project in store after the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium and the addition of young talents like Merlin Rohl, but The Friedkin Group are not yet in a position to help Sara realise the ambitions he shared with Globo Esporte.

After hearing these comments, it feels as if even merely approaching the Galatasaray No.8 would be a complete and utter waste of time for Everton.
