Everton have already made their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Carlos Alcaraz made his Everton loan a permanent deal, and now it appears a second addition is getting closer.
It’s being reported that the Friedkin Group are ready to meet Thierno Barry’s £33m release clause, with the Villarreal striker keen on a move to Merseyside.
Barry is widely considered one of the best young strikers on the continent, so it’d be a real coup for David Moyes’ side and one that shows serious ambition.
It’s also recently been reported that Everton are interested in an Argentine international, and that may really worry one current first-teamer

Vitaliy Mykolenko must be really worried at the latest Everton transfer rumour
When Moyes returned in January, one of his first priorities was for Everton to sign competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Ultimately, the American investors decided to keep their powder dry for a big spend this summer but now it looks as though there is movement on the left-back front.
It’s just emerged that Everton are exploring a deal to sign Lyon’s Nicolas Tagliafico, who remains one of the best left-backs in Europe.
The 70-cap Argentina international is set to become a free agent, and the Toffees look well-placed to land his signature.
That transfer rumour will surely worry Vitaly Mykolenko, who was signed in a £17m deal in 2022, as he’ll more than likely be dropped to the bench with the Champions League semi-finalist favoured.
Tagliafico was on Everton’s radar in 2020
Tagliafico has been on Everton’s radar for years.
In fact, in 2020, the Express reported that then-manager Carlo Ancelotti was trying to sign him ahead of Barcelona.
Tagliafico is now approaching his 33rd birthday, but he’s still not showing any real signs of slowing down.
In fact, the former Ajax man made 33 appearances last term, registering a commendable eight goal involvements.
According to Capology, Tagliafico earns around £89k-a-week including bonuses, so it would take a pretty big financial commitment to bring him to the Hill Dickinson.
But, considering there’s no transfer fee, it’s certainly feasible.
