Everton’s pursuit of a new midfielder has been well-documented, but what has not is their efforts to sign a new striker.

There have been murmurs of a few tenuous links, with the constant threat that Beto might leave Everton and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will refuse a new contract.

The ambiguity on the respective futures of this duo leaves Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell stuck, forced to try and plan for the worst, but hopeful that their two main marksman will just stay put for now.

Fortunately, the Toffees have now actually been offered one potential solution on a silver platter, with a player coming available following the collapse of his move to France.

Everton offered the chance to sign Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko

Given Everton now want Jens Cajuste after his move to Brentford fell through, it seems like the bulk of their interest late in the window is tied to supremely distressed and unwanted assets or loan players.

After all, given the money already spent, their desperation to avoid offloading further significant fees is understandable.

That being said, it might be tempting to do so on this occasion, with TEAMtalk revealing how the opportunity to acquire Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko has emerged.

They claim: ‘TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko has been offered to Everton by his entourage. Although, there is yet to be any developments on that front after first contact.

‘The 19-year-old was expected to join Marseille this summer but that move is now close to collapse. He has interest from clubs in La Liga, so Everton would have to move quickly to get a deal done.

‘While Everton are doing their due diligence on striker targets, bringing in a new forward likely hinges upon whether Calvert-Lewin leaves Everton.’

How good really is Everton target Youssoufa Moukoko?

Having started his youth career with FC St. Pauli, a move to Dortmund saw his incredible talents catapulted to a much grander stage.

As the only 13-year-old within their U17s setup, unsurprisingly the media caught wind of this, and when he scored six goals in his debut for the U19s as a 14-year-old, they went into overdrive.

He finished his youth career having scored 141 goals in 88 games for the U17s and U19s sides, and earned his first senior appearance as a 16-year-old in 2020.

With this, Moukoko became the youngest-ever player in Bundesliga history, and would go on to achieve that record in the Champions League too later that year.

And finally, on the 15th of December, he made his first start, later scoring his first goal three days later at the age of 16 years and 28 days, again, the youngest in the competition’s history.

Despite this blistering start to his career, his chances always seemed limited with the quality ahead of him, and even though he has even made his international debut for Germany, it feels like his career has stalled.

The potential remains sky-high, and he is still just 19 years old despite being on radars for so many years now.

Perhaps a move to the Premier League could see him recapture that spark and finally reach the remarkable heights many guarantee he will reach.
