Everton’s summer has been one of great progression, but it has also not been without its sacrifices.
It was always expected that one or two star men would have to make way to pave the path towards a brighter future, and with Amadou Onana leaving, it felt like they had overcome the worst.
However, now others continue to be linked with an exit, the likes of which would severely dent their squad’s quality in depth.
The hope is that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will stay, but it seems even he is unsure of what the future holds.
The latest on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton future
Whilst initially iNews sought to provide an update on Everton’s takeover situation, they did also include a brief insight into the transfer plans of the club too.
After all, the squad that a new prospective owner seeks to inherit is arguably as important as the financial situation, as long-term success on the pitch almost always translates to a huge influx in cash.

So, if John Textor does buy Everton, he will be glad to oversee Sean Dyche’s continued progression, with a squad that is slowly improving.
However, it could be set to suffer a big blow, with that report now actually offering an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton future amidst rumours of a contract dispute.
It claimed: ‘There is, however, still some uncertainty over Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored in the final friendly of the summer against Roma on Saturday but is yet to sign a new contract.
‘He is in the final year of his deal but there has not been significant interest in the striker since a move to Newcastle collapsed in June over wage demands.’
Dominic Calvert-Lewin should stay and become an Everton legend
The frustrating thing about Calvert-Lewin stalling on his Everton future is that, should he just commit to the club, he could actually end his career as a legend.
And, it is also worth noting that the move he is likely to engineer would hardly be a big step up, with Newcastle United probably the loftiest exit he could possibly hope for.
Having already notched some monumental goals across his eight years with the Toffees, growing from a promising teenager into a capable top-level marksman, it’s alarming to think that the 27-year-old is just 15 goals shy of becoming Everton’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.
To overtake Tim Cahill, Duncan Ferguson and Romelu Lukaku would mark a huge feat, and when adding that kind of record with his relegation-saving header against Crystal Palace, his derby-winning goal at Goodison last year, or his 95th-minute equaliser at Old Trafford under Carlo Ancelotti.

A man for the big occasion, it’s no surprise at all that Davide Ancelotti, son of the aforementioned legendary manager, branded him a ‘special’ player during their spell together.
Calvert-Lewin should knuckle down, sign a new deal, and spearhead Everton’s progression up the table and into a brand-new stadium.
Things are looking up for this club at last, and he could finish his career as a legend should he choose to be a part of that bright future.
