Everton tied up the bulk of their transfer business nice and early this summer, much to the surprise of the fanbase.

After all, following years with few funds to contend with, they have often been forced to wait until late in the window to try and snag a cheaper deal.

It’s a frustrating and unprepared approach, but marked a sign of the miserable times they were enduring.

Kevin Thelwell is the man to thank for this stunning turnaround, having ushered in a period of newfound sustainability that they are now benefitting from.

This influx of cash has therefore allowed to make, in the eyes of one journalist, one of the best Premier League acquisitions of the entire window.

Graeme Bailey predicts big season for new Everton signing

That’s according to transfer reporter Graeme Bailey, who spoke exclusively to Everton.News about any potential action to come before the end of the summer and the state of the current squad.

However, taking a break from discussing rumours, he wanted to give a special mention to Everton’s new signing Jesper Lindstrom, lauding the business and predicting big things for the coming campaign.

He claimed: ‘And Jesper Lindstrom. Lindstrom’s one of my favourite signings. I think he’s a superb player. I really do. I think the only thing that Everton might regret with Lindstrom is not making it a mandatory option. Because I think he’s going to be that good that Everton might struggle to hold onto him.

‘It’s a nice problem to have. I like him an awful lot.

‘I think Lindstrom will be one of the stories of the season.’

As Bailey touched upon, the Toffees only have an optional buy clause in the loan deal, and will have to fork out £19m for his services next summer should he impress.

Where is Jesper Lindstrom’s best position?

However, Bailey did outline one fear he had, questioning Sean Dyche’s decision to play him out wide throughout pre-season whilst opting for Jack Harrison through the middle.

This is a venture which we were already told was a foolish move, as Danish football expert Toke Møller Theilade suggested that Lindstrom is not a winger: ‘Napoli bought him to play wide, which is just not his position.

‘He isn’t fast enough or a good enough dribbler to play effectively as a winger. He needs to play centrally in order to utilize his strengths and come into areas where he can help the team the most.’

With Iliman Ndiaye and Abdoulaye Doucoure set to battle for the central spot just behind the striker, already there is fierce competition for Lindstrom’s favoured role.

Elsewhere, Dwight McNeil and Harrison will compete for spots out wide.

Dyche will hopefully figure out fast where the Denmark international shines brightest, and then hope he can live up to Bailey’s expectations.
