Lewis Dobbin netted his first goal of pre-season as Everton drew 2-2 with Monza.

The Toffees faced the Italian outfit in a behind-closed-doors friendly yesterday, with the forward playing the full 90 minutes.

Monza claimed a very early lead through Andrea Colpani, before Dobbin claimed an equaliser and his first goal since a win in February whilst on loan with Derby County.

Neal Maupay then gifted Everton the lead, before a late Dany Mota header secured the Merseyside club’s fifth consecutive game unbeaten in pre-season.

Dobbin has become the player to keep an eye out during Everton’s summer schedule, having hugely impressed in his start against Bolton Wanderers, while he also made a positive impact against Stoke City last time out.

The 20-year-old’s stellar performances led to huge praise from Sean Dyche, who said: “He’s done very well. I’m very pleased with him and his application – all the young lads actually have been first class. But I think he’s come out of it and is doing really well.

“We’ll see (what next) but he’s certainly laying down a marker to say ‘I’m ready and want to be part of it’, that’s for sure.”

The report says that the Toffees were initially set to send Dobbin out on loan again, however Sean Dyche is now re-considering his options and could bring him into his first team plans ahead of their Premier League meeting with Fulham.

Everton are currently very low on attacking options and Dobbin could potentially replace Ellis Simms on the bench, while it may also allow Tom Cannon to return to the Championship on loan.
