£20m Sunderland man Everton want to sign now set to leave with Wilson Isidor

Everton are sniffing around Sunderland ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Toffees asked about Wilson Isidor in January after the Haiti international fell out of favour under Regis Le Bris – and looks set to leave this summer after losing his spot to Brian Brobbey.

TEAMtalk claimed in March that Everton also like Lutsharel Geertruida – and are monitoring the Netherlands international in case Sunderland fail to trigger the €23m (£20m) purchase option in his loan from RB Leipzig.

Philipp Hinze of Sky Germany now claims that Sunderland will not be activating that clause – giving Everton the chance to sign a perfect utility player for David Moyes.

Everton now have chance to capitalise on Lutsharel Geertruida availability

We opined back in March that the Dutchman would be an ideal signing for Moyes, considering he can play in the centre of defence, midfield and also at right-back, among other positions.

A story from iNews interestingly claims that Moyes is prioritising a new centre-back and right-back, so a move for Geertruida would kill two birds with one stone.

Hinze now claims that the 25-year-old is set to return to RB Leipzig this summer with Sunderland strangely deciding against triggering his £20m clause, which seems a bargain for a fairly young player who can boast his versatility as well as 14 appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

The respected journalist adds that Geertruida is unlikely to be back in Leipzig for long, with the German outfit still aiming to offload the former Feyenoord star permanently.

Do Everton still need to add a new centre-back this summer? 🤔

It is unclear why Sunderland are not willing to do this deal, but that choice gives Everton a chance to swoop in and sign a player who ticks many boxes for Moyes – and may save The Friedkin Group from having to spend on multiple players given the fact he can fill many different positions.
