Dwight McNeil was carried off on a stretcher in Everton’s dull 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.
Everton and Crystal Palace welcomed back the FA Cup in an utterly awful game of football on Thursday night.
Neither side managed to create any kind of clear-cut opportunity and the game rightfully ended 0-0.
A difficult watch was only made worse as Everton suffered two huge blows in the second half which could see two key players now out through different causes.
Firstly Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off in an extremely controversial red card decision which Tony Bellew has absolutely slammed.
The second blow came as Dwight McNeil was stretchered off the pitch with what looked to be a painful injury.

Paddy Boyland issues Dwight McNeil injury verdict
Late in the second half, Everton fans’ hearts would’ve been in their mouth with worry as McNeil spent a prolonged period on the floor behind the goal receiving treatment, before he was stretchered off.
Afterwards, The Athletic’s Paddy Boyland took to X, sharing his verdict on McNeil’s injury.
He wrote the following verdict: “Let’s hope Dwight McNeil is ok. Does not look good”.
It was a concerning sight to see him carried off with his ankle being isolated meaning it’s likely the problem area. The fact Boyland has stated this, will only add concern to the supporters.
After the game, McNeil’s Everton teammates were reacting to his injury blow as they lost one of their top performers recently.
Everton’s Seamus Coleman on McNeil injury
After the game, Everton captain Seamus Coleman was on media duty and discussed the injury to McNeil.
He told ITV: “Yes disappointing because he has been massive for us recently.
“We hope it’s not too bad because his energy around the place and commitment to the team has been different class so hopefully it is not too bad.”
McNeil has been so good for Everton recently and his impact on the wing has been profound. The injury could potentially be a huge factor in Arnaut Danjuma’s future at the club too.
The Dutchman was previously looking likely to leave, but now could be kept with McNeil out.
