Steve McManaman has made a very interesting prediction ahead of Everton’s trip to Liverpool today.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the former Red admitted that injuries and and international duty could give Everton a chance at taking something away from Anfield.
The Toffees have managed to claim one win in their last 28 meetings in the Merseyside derby, though their recent form has given them a glimmer of hope.
Everton have beaten Aston Villa, Brentford and Bournemouth in their last four games and could move up to 13th place in the Premier League table if they can cause an upset this afternoon.
However, Liverpool currently sit three points form the top of the table and will be desperate to claim the victory after failing to beat Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton prior to the international break.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are struggling with injuries though, with Andy Robertson set to join Curtis Jones (suspended), Caoimhin Kelleher, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Alisson, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister have all travelled back from South America midweek, which could affect their performances on the pitch.
McManaman has claimed that Everton do have a good chance at getting a result at Anfield if they can take advantage of this.
“”If you asked 100 fans who aren’t Liverpool or Everton fans I think they would suggest Liverpool will win,” McManaman told the Echo.
“They are favourites, they are at home and they expected to win.
“There are a few reasons why Everton may feel they have an opportunity. Liverpool have four South America players who have done a lot of travelling, Andy Robertson is out injured and Everton will know these factors. It’s whether they can use it to their advantage to gain a march.
“Liverpool will dominate possession, it’s whether Everton can break and counter-attack and can they stay defensively strong? They can do something on set-pieces to try and upset Liverpool.”
Can Everton cause an upset at Anfield again?
If the Merseyside derby was taking place at Goodison Park today, then Liverpool would probably be very scared of making it three games without a win.
However, Everton have to face Klopp’s side in their own back garden and will face a huge ask if they are to leave with anything other than a defeat.

The Toffees can certainly rely on Jarrad Branthwaite to put on a stellar display, but the likes of Vitaliy Mykolenko will have to be at his very best if he is to nullify the threat of Mo Salah.
Everton definitely have a few individuals that could create one or two chances out of nothing, but it is whether they can keep the Reds out at the other end.
