Liverpool could be forced to host Everton without key man Andy Robertson next week.

The left-back was spotted leaving the pitch nursing a shoulder injury in Scotland’s 2-0 defeat to Spain on Thursday night.

Robertson has been an ever present figure in Liverpool’s defence since earning his £8 million move from Hull City in 2017.

Alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 29-year-old has played a vital role in getting forward and providing a number of assists to the Reds’ attackers.

After making eight starts in the Premier League this season, Robertson now faces a spell on the sidelines and could miss out on the Merseyside derby at Anfield.

The ‘terrific’ defender picked up the injury shortly before half-time and could be seen cradling his arm in his shirt after a collision with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon, with Robertson then replaced by Everton’s Nathan Patterson.

There is yet to be confirmation on what Robertson’s injury is, but there is speculation over whether he has dislocated his shoulder. A football injury analyst on X (@physioscout) has claimed that he could be out for 2-4 weeks if it doesn’t require surgery and up to four months if it does.

Andy Robertson could be replaced by Tsimikas

It seems extremely likely that Robertson will be out for Everton’s trip to Anfield, which would be a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp’s side. The German is likely to opt to play Kostas Tsimikas, who has made one appearance in the top flight this season.

While we don’t want to see anyone suffer a serious injury, Andy Robertson’s absence could make Everton’s attackers’ job a lot easier next weekend.

Kostas Tsimikas has been far from Robertson’s standard since joining from Olympiacos and could really struggle to handle someone like Jack Harrison.

The Reds have been known to concede early goals this season and a weaker backline could prove handy for the Toffees, who could be massively boosted if they can manage to take a surprise lead early on.
