Everton are a side brimming with a renewed sense of confidence after the weekend’s win over West Ham United, but could see their happiness drained once more if fresh reports are to be believed.
Claiming such an important victory after the week they had endured marked a massive show of character from a side accused of lacking it in recent years, as they overcame the sad death of chairman Bill Kenwright, and reports of a 12-point deduction to come, to claim three points.
It always seems like a foolish endeavour to get too excited about the Toffees though, as that week proved there is always something around the corner to tear Evertonians right back down.
As such, 90min are the latest to offer such disappointment, with their update on Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation one that will worry Sean Dyche.

Given Amadou Onana has already been linked with a Goodison Park exit, seeing the following said about his goalkeeper will have him petrified at the prospect of losing two of his key men in January: ‘Everton’s Jordan Pickford has been tracked while Chelsea are also among the sides monitoring Aaron Ramsdale’s situation at Arsenal.’
How good is Jordan Pickford?
Given how far the 29-year-old has grown since his £30m move back in 2017, the fee to pry him from Merseyside would have to be truly astronomical.
Especially as his importance to Everton is emphasised with each passing week, as he consistently makes top saves that help keep Dyche’s side alive in games.
It is inarguably that the last two seasons would certainly have resulted in relegation if not for the former Sunderland man, who earned the Premier League‘s Save of the Season award during the 2021/22 term, and then would average 3.4 saves per game the following campaign.
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville would even suggest that the £125k-per-week shot-stopper was wholly responsible for their safety last year, noting back in June: ‘But if you look at those three teams that were vying to go down Leeds’ problems were with their goalkeeper. Leicester’s problems with theirs and then you look at Pickford who has actually been stable for Everton.

‘That could be the difference. That purely could be the difference in the point or two points or whatever it is.’
As more sections of the media begin to wake up to just how consistently outstanding Pickford is for Everton, links touting his exit are only set to increase.
