James Rodriguez has admitted he still carries Everton around in his heart years after his departure.
It proved quite a messy exit from Everton for the Colombia international, who left the Toffees to join Al-Rayyan in Qatar.
Rafael Benitez was the manager that gave Rodriguez’s exit the green light back in 2021.
For the last time this season, let us know your prediction ahead of Sunday’s game…
Could Everton really send Spurs down? 😳
However, Everton News columnist Alan Myers does not fully agree with the comments being made by the two-time Champions League winner.

What James Rodriguez has now said about his time at Everton
It has recently been suggested that Rodriguez could retire after the World Cup this summer.
The 34-year-old has been playing his football out in the MLS with Minnesota, which has become his sixth club since departing Merseyside.
“I am an Everton supporter, who always wants the club to succeed,” he told the Men in Blazers podcast.
Where will Everton be in the table by 6pm on Sunday afternoon? 🥲
The Blues could finish as low as 14th… 😫
“To Everton fans, just know that my feelings for you are special and I carry you in my heart.”
“Maybe some time I go to the new stadium… maybe the last dance?”
A return for Rodriguez in a playing role is almost certainly not a possibility given the level he has been playing at over recent years.
Previously, Rodriguez admitted he wanted to sign for Atletico Madrid instead of Everton, in a bid to escape the cold weather.
Rodriguez was quick to blame Benitez for his departure, but that is not something Myers necessarily agrees with.
Alan Myers hits back at Rodriguez’s Everton comments
Since departing Merseyside, there is a clear sense that Rodriguez has attempted to escape any of the blame for his short stint at the club.
This is not the first time Rodriguez has passed the blame on to Benitez as to why he was only at the club for just 12 months.
However, this has not fooled Myers, who took to social media to share his own thoughts on the Colombian’s Everton exit.
“Couldn’t wait to go,” Myers responded to the footage.
“It’s not the love story that gets regularly talked about.”
So, for the Everton supporters reading Rodriguez’s latest comments on the club, take them with a pinch of salt.
