Having been used to the near-year-long process that eventually saw 777 Partners rejected as potential Everton owners, every little wait on the takeover front is naturally now met with great worry on Merseyside.
After all, they know the very worst of it, and even with Dan Friedkin’s apparent suitability, fears are natural in this situation.
The longer things drag on, the more doubts creep in, over whether the finances are just too bad for them to handle, or whether some skeletons from their own past have emerged too.
There are so many hurdles to overcome, and so many pitfalls which could scupper the entire deal.
Fortunately, Alan Myers is on hand to provide yet another routine update.
Alan Myers provides latest Everton takeover update
As one of the most revered journalists regarding Everton, people flock to him for information where there is otherwise none.
And not someone to stir up conjecture, he only gives his informed opinion when relevant, and otherwise only tweets to break news stories.

However, due to his inside knowledge and connection to the fanbase, supporters often pose questions to him directly on X.
One such worried that the wait might affect the club’s cashflow, to which Myers replied: ‘I don’t know the actual working agreement tbh but I do know nothing will move forward until TFG are satisfied and the SPA is agreed, I don’t see that by end of July, (but possible) then the PL process will begin, and alongside the deal can be closed.’
Then, when another asked for a more definitive time scale, he could only predict: ‘My guess would be September at the earliest’.
Dan Friedkin’s takeover delay is only natural
Whilst fan’s fears over the takeover delay are only natural, so too is this wait.
After all, purchasing a football club takes time, especially in the Premier League given how many barriers to entry there are.
For some, this division makes it so hard to prove their worth out of fear that they are unfit and will drive a prestigious English club into the ground.
Ironically, they did not see that coming with Farhad Moshiri.
But with Friedkin, this protracted saga is likely just a standard due diligence process, where he combs over the necessary information to make an informed decision on the Toffees.
He knows what he is buying into is far from the finished package, and that plenty of work needs to be done.

The main thing he needs to now do is ensure that there are no other hidden issues that Moshiri has neglected to publicise, but Alan Myers’ Everton PSR prediction did suggest that they should be clear on this front too.
Only when all has been revealed will this process move on, but fans should not fear the wait. This particular suitor could not be more different to 777 Partners.
