It’s been a whirlwind couple of days around Goodison Park after Everton’s draw with Liverpool.

The Merseyside Derby proved once again why it’s one of the best derbies to exist.

Filled with controversy, agony, and ecstasy, it certainly didn’t disappoint.

David Moyes has proven pundits wrong at Everton, as he’s got the Toffees back on track in the Premier League as safety now looks a certainty.

However, Everton took a real blow on Wednesday night which is turning into a common theme around the Premier League.

Alan Shearer and Micah Richards gutted at Everton’s bad news

It was a brilliant night all around as James Tarkowski gave Goodison Park the perfect derby send-off.

But Iliman Ndiaye got injured during the Liverpool game and Moyes confirmed Ndiaye’s injury isn’t good.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast (11:13), Alan Shearer and Micah Richards revealed their frustration for the 24-year-old.

“He’s looked sharp hasn’t he, he’s one of their better players and certainly gives them an outlet,” Shearer said.

“They’ll miss him – Hopefully they can sign players next season, but they’ll have enough to stay up.”

Richards added: “Just frustrating though, isn’t it?

James Garner is out, comes back to the team, and then Ndiaye gets injured.

“It must be frustrating, it’s not just quality they’ve lost, it’s fitness as well.

“We are getting a lot of muscle injuries in the Premier League at the moment.”

Shearer shows fury as Everton the latest club to encounter Premier League problem

As Richards said at the end, muscle injuries are a recurring problem in the Premier League.

Moyes can’t get a break from injuries despite Garner returning to Everton from injury, as now Ndiaye, arguably the Toffees most important player this season, faces a setback.

Shearer is furious at the large amount of injuries around the Premier League at the moment, as the former Newcastle striker points the blame at VAR continuing on with the discussion about Ndiaye (12:20).

“I mentioned it the other night after the Man City game when Jack Grealish went off,” Shearer said.

“(Due to the stoppage of VAR) they were stood around doing nothing for five minutes – it can’t be healthy.

“It’s not right you’re waiting that long for a decision.”

Although Ndiaye’s injury was purely accidental, the stoppages would no doubt have had an impact on the winger in the past, and the Premier League needs to stamp down on it as soon as possible.
