Alan Stubbs has already made an attempt to get John McGinn to join Everton in the past.
David Moyes is putting his faith in experience at Everton, with a number of his younger signings failing to get a look in on Merseyside.
The upcoming summer window is going to be crucial for the Blues and Everton have already shown interest in McGinn.
Don’t hold back, let us know who you want gone this summer 👋
With two years remaining on his current deal, the 31-year-old could be an option again, but Stubbs has shared his previous attempts to bring the Scot to Finch Farm.

Alan Stubbs has tried to persuade John McGinn join Everton
Moyes has identified McGinn as an option for Everton ever since he made the return to the club last January.
The suggestion of making a move for McGinn remains ahead of the summer window, with Stubbs having already spoken to the midfielder.
Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?
The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…
“We had John McGinn, he was a breath of fresh air John, I actually tried to get Everton to sign him, and it just didn’t happen for whatever reason,” Stubbs said on the Outside the Box podcast.
McGinn played under Stubbs 52 times during their time together in Edinburgh with Hibernian.
The 31-year-old has since gone on to showcase his ability in the Premier League, with almost eight years at Aston Villa.
Moyes is a big admirer of McGinn, with the Everton boss even noting how Stubbs had previously worked with him in Scotland.
Captaining Villa, McGinn has remained a consistent feature in Unai Emery’s side, which will make any deal this summer incredibly difficult to pull off.
David Moyes’ Everton transfer plan is so clear
Having really struggled to put his trust in the younger signings from last summer, it is clear that Moyes has his eyes on experienced professionals this time around.
Everton are eyeing five key additions in the summer, with the positional needs already mapped out.
The question of what type of player Moyes will be keen to sign has already become clear through the names currently being linked with the Blues.
Alongside McGinn, Everton have shown an interest in John Stones, who is one of many players already over the age of 30 being linked.
Last summer may have scarred Moyes, with his only two real success stories being Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
