Everton are yet to announce any incomings this month, but there has now been a departure.

Harry Tyrer, who has spent the last three seasons away from Everton on loan, has now confirmed a permanent move to Cardiff on Instagram.

It is an emotional departure despite the fact the 24-year-old never made a competitive appearance for the Toffees, as he has been with Everton ever since 2008 when he was just seven years of age.

Given the nature of his exit, several players have reacted to the news on Instagram, with Harrison Armstrong sending the longest message while Alex Iwobi popped up too.

Armstrong and Tyrer – who was up for sale last summer too – are quite close, having spent time in the Everton youth ranks together.

What do you think was Jordan Pickford’s best ever save for Everton? 🤩

There's just SO many to pick from!

After hearing about his pal’s move to Wales, the Everton No.45 wrote the following message while also adding a blue heart emoji: “All the best brother!”

Dwight McNeil and Mason Holgate also responded by ‘liking’ the post from Tyrer.

The aforementioned Iwobi then posted a wordless reply, sending the goalkeeper a praying emoji to wish him well at Cardiff – as did Ellis Simms.

Harry Tyrer impressed Neville Southall on rare Everton appearance

As aforesaid, Tyrer never made a competitive appearance for Everton, but he did start for the senior side in a 2-0 win over Preston in a pre-season friendly back in September 2020.

The Crosby-born glovesman performed well in that clash, which led the legendary Neville Southall to direct some praise his way.

The Welshman – who made a whopping 717 appearances for Everton – said: “Well done mate. Played well.”

Unfortunately for Tyrer, he has been able to do very little about his lack of action for the Toffees with England’s starting goalkeeper spending the last eight years at Everton.

Hopefully, he can start to build a solid career in senior football at Cardiff, who sit top of League One and look set for promotion to the Championship.
