Just hours separate Everton and Liverpool from the first Merseyside Derby of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

And ahead of the game, Arne Slot has name-dropped one Everton player who his side are going to have to be wary of at Anfield.

David Moyes will be pleased with the start to the season his side has made, having taken seven points from their opening four games.

Arne Slot warns Liverpool of one Everton player ahead of Merseyside Derby

Since landing on Merseyside in the summer, Grealish has really impressed in his opening four Premier League games for the Blues.

So much so, that Grealish was named Player of the Month for August having provided four assists in the opening month of the term.

Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of the game, Slot has admitted he has been impressed with what he has seen from Grealish.

“When we faced them last season they had a very good spell as well – and it wasn’t a spell because they just kept on going with that and into this season again also,” said the Liverpool boss.

“I think they’ve made some good signings and one of them is of course a player on loan who was worth £100m in the past, someone paid £100m for him and he is doing so well for them, Jack Grealish. So, a good team.”

Even Robbie Fowler admitted he’d take Grealish in Liverpool’s squad, which is quite the statement from a man who said they’ll beat Everton 3-0 on Saturday.

Grealish is surpassing a lot of people’s early expectations, but he has been brought in to make a difference in the big games.

And there will be no bigger game than on Saturday at Anfield.

Jack Grealish needs to shine in the big games

The 30-year-old is currently leading the way in the Premier League with more assists (4) than any other player.

But the Toffees have not yet faced one of the big six in the Premier League just yet.

Thomas Tuchel is closely watching Grealish, and it will be in these types of games where the forward will be expected to raise the levels for Everton.

Grealish has a lot of experience in playing at the elite level for Manchester City, which Moyes will be hoping will benefit his team at Anfield.

It is a huge season for Grealish to prove himself once again, and what better way than by doing so in the Merseyside Derby.
