The Toffees were right up against it going into the clash, but produced a fantastic performance to take all three points to get their season back on track.

But James Garner really impressed once again for Everton, and that led to praise from his former teammate Ashley Young after the game.

Garner really ran the show for Everton against Villa.
He was so available, and so confident on the ball once he had it. Everything went through him, and the midfielder is just getting better and better.
After the game, he was the subject of praise from both Jamie Redknapp and Ashley Young, with the former Toffees player hailing the way he has stepped up recently.
Young said on Sky Sports: “I think there’s talk that his contract’s up at the end of the season. So of course they need to do everything they can to keep hold of him. It would be a massive loss if he was to go.

Garner new contract paramount for Everton
Garner is having a fine season, and his latest display against Villa will only emphasise how important it is for Everton to tie him down to a new contract.
Everton are working towards an agreement with Garner on a new contract, and fans are really hoping for a development soon.
Potentially off the back of this latest fine display, we could get some movement. Everton would surely love to strike while the iron is hot.
